Education for Hazing with the NMB Foundation

The NMB Foundation is working hard to make people aware of the dangers of hazing. From sports clubs to fraternities, sororities and even church and community groups, this barbaric activity still goes on.

Sadly, people who participate are uneducated and think that it must go on because it has been going on for decades and is just part of becoming a group member.

Education with the NMB Foundation

As with anything, education is the key. People are taught that it is okay to haze people because they went through the rite of passage themselves, this couldn’t be further from the truth.

The NMB Foundation educates people letting them know about the trauma of caused. Hazing causes mental, emotional, and sometimes physical scars. In some cases, as in the case of Nolan Burch, it led to another senseless death.

What Exactly is Hazing?

According to the NMB Foundation, it is any situation or action that intentionally causes harassment or embarrassment to the victim. The ridicule not only causes emotional harm, but physical harm and scars as well.

Sadly, many people see the Rite of Passage as a way to develop discipline and teach respect. It is seen as something that brings loyalty to a group while being a necessary part of being included in the social group. It is also a way to make people conform when they normally wouldn’t.

Can Hazing Be Stopped?

The NMB Foundation is dedicated to educating people about the dangers of hazing. However, it is tough because so many group leaders feel that it is a necessary because they were hazed as well.
